A man is facing a total of twelve charges following an altercation with a police officer in Halifax, which eventually led to the revelation of a stolen motorcycle. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, around 7:00 p.m., when a Halifax Regional Police officer, who was riding an e-bike downtown, noticed a motorcyclist operating without a helmet.
The officer spotted the man on Upper Water Street. As a traffic light changed, he attempted to approach the rider. According to a police release, the motorcyclist reacted aggressively and accelerated the motorcycle directly toward the officer. In an effort to stop him, the officer grabbed the motorcycle, causing it to tip over. This prompted the rider to flee on foot, but he was soon apprehended by additional police units that arrived at the scene.
Upon investigating, authorities checked the license plate of the motorcycle and determined that the rider was not the registered owner. The actual owner subsequently confirmed to the police that the motorcycle had been recently stolen from a parking area located on Lower Water Street.
The officer who confronted the motorcyclist sustained minor injuries during the incident and received treatment afterward. As a result of his actions and the subsequent investigation, the 39-year-old suspect, identified as Royce Dimitre Madinsky, is now facing numerous charges.

- Assault on a peace officer with a weapon
- Possession of property obtained by crime valued over $5,000
- Operation of a conveyance while prohibited
- Obstruction and resisting police (three counts)
