A man from Dartmouth is currently facing multiple charges following an investigation into child exploitation. The Halifax Regional Police received reports in May that a man was in possession of materials related to child sexual abuse. This led the internet child exploitation unit to act, obtaining a search warrant for the suspect's residence located on Crystal Drive in Dartmouth.
In a raid conducted by the police, electronic devices were discovered and subsequently seized for forensic analysis. The investigation confirmed the presence of child exploitation materials, culminating in charges against 31-year-old Adrian Rioux. He is expected to appear in court to respond to several serious offenses, including:
- Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Breach of probation order relating to children (x2)
The police authorities are urging anyone who might have information regarding child sexual abuse or exploitation materials to come forward and assist with ongoing investigations.
