The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to a disturbance at the Cobequid bus terminal located in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, on August 27, 2026, around 1:45 a.m. Initial reports indicated that a group of youths was involved in a fight with a bus driver. Upon their arrival, police discovered that the young individuals were not only attempting to engage with the bus driver physically but were also throwing rocks at the bus and obstructing its departure from the terminal.
Fortunately, the bus driver did not sustain any injuries during this confrontation, and at the time of the incident, there were no passengers on board the bus. The police acted promptly and were able to track the youths down shortly after they left the terminal. Consequently, two individuals from the group were arrested and are facing charges of assault.
The two youths who were apprehended are expected to appear in a Halifax court at a later date to respond to the charges. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding safety and behavior among young people in public spaces, particularly in transportation hubs where drivers and other workers can be vulnerable to disturbances.
