"Dalhousie U Partners with Halifax Tides FC for Training"

Dalhousie University’s Department of Athletics has signed a deal with the Halifax Tides FC to host their official training facility

Dalhousie University’s Department of Athletics has officially signed a partnership with the Halifax Tides FC to serve as the training facility for the team. This collaboration marks a significant step forward for women's professional soccer in the Maritimes, as the Halifax Tides aim to elevate the presence of women's sports in the region.

The Halifax Tides, who pioneered women's professional soccer in the area, will utilize Wickwire Field on Studley Campus in Halifax for their training sessions. This facility is conveniently located just minutes away from the Tides’ home ground, the Wanderers Grounds. Under this agreement, the Tides will be recognized as the name-branded tenants of Wickwire Field, enjoying access to a dedicated locker room alongside a high-performance room and swimming pool located on campus.

Lewis Page, the head coach of the Halifax Tides, has expressed his appreciation for the exceptional facilities that Dalhousie University offers. In a recent news release, Page remarked, "Dalhousie University is an excellent venue for the Halifax Tides to train. The ability to have all the services we need to run a professional team in one location is outstanding. The standard of the facilities and the professionalism of the staff at Dalhousie will allow us to create a truly high-performance environment for our players and staff."

Beyond merely providing a practice area, this partnership underscores both Dalhousie University and Halifax Tides FC's commitment to advancing women's sports. Tim Maloney, the associate vice-president of athletics and ancillary services at Dalhousie, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "We are excited to be the official training centre for the Tides and do our part to help ensure the successful launch of professional women's soccer in Halifax."

The Halifax Tides, having embarked on their inaugural season on April 26, are building momentum as they connect with local supporters. Their next game is scheduled for May 17 at 2 p.m., with tickets available for purchase online, inviting fans to come and witness the growth of women's soccer in Halifax.
