On May 18, 2025, a tragic early-morning crash in Toronto resulted in the deaths of three children, reportedly caused by an impaired 19-year-old driver. At a news conference following the incident, Acting Inspector Baheer Sarbanandan provided details about the crash. The driver of a Dodge Caravan, identified as Ethan Lehouillier of Georgetown, Ontario, was allegedly speeding as he exited Highway 401 onto Renforth Drive. In a moment of loss of control, the Caravan crossed over a raised median and collided with a Chrysler Pacifica minivan, which was stopped at a red light and contained a mother, her four children, and a male acquaintance.

The collision had catastrophic consequences. Two of the children, a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third child, a 6-year-old girl, was transported to a nearby hospital but sadly succumbed to her injuries later, bringing the total number of deceased to three children. The family member in the minivan, a 40-year-old man, along with a 35-year-old woman and a 10-year-old child, were injured and are currently in stable condition at the hospital.

Police have taken swift action against the alleged driver of the Caravan. Ethan Lehouillier was arrested at the scene and is facing 12 charges, including three counts of impaired driving causing death and three counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm.
