On Thursday morning at approximately 4:30 a.m., regional police executed a search warrant at a residence located on Courtney Road in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This operation was part of an ongoing investigation into firearm-related activities, as reported in an official police press release.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered and seized several items, including a firearm, ammunition, a replica BB handgun, and property that had been reported stolen. Following the search, three individuals were taken into custody, although two of them—a man and a woman—were later released without any charges being filed against them.
The man who remains in custody is identified as Michael Saulnier, 34 years old. He is slated to appear in court to face a myriad of serious charges stemming from the investigation. The charges against Saulnier include unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, and storing a firearm or restricted weapon in violation of regulations. Additionally, he faces charges for possessing prohibited or restricted weapon ammunition without a license, possessing a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, and possessing a firearm within a vehicle.
Further, Saulnier is charged with failing to surrender firearms as ordered on two separate occasions, possessing firearms or prohibited weapons obtained by criminal means, and possessing property acquired through crime under $5,000 on two counts. Lastly, he is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, a serious offence that reflects the potential danger he posed to the community.
