MONTREAL Air Canada has entered into a new codeshare agreement with Italian airline ITA Airways, which aims to enhance travel options between Canada and Italy.
This collaborative effort allows Air Canada to place its AC code on a range of selected routes that are operated by ITA Airways from Rome's Fiumicino Airport. The routes included in this agreement cover five key destinations within Italy, three locations in Africa, as well as additional cities such as Tirana, Albania and Tel Aviv.
Conversely, ITA Airways will apply its AZ code to certain routes operated by Air Canada from Toronto's Pearson International Airport to various Canadian cities including Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and St. John's, N.L.. Additionally, the Italian airline will also assign its code to selected Air Canada flights heading to the United States, which encompass popular destinations such as Boston, Orlando, Dallas, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The opportunity to purchase codeshare tickets commenced on Monday, July 14, 2025, for travel beginning on July 21, 2025. This agreement is expected to bolster the travel market between Canada and Italy, providing customers with more seamless travel options and improved connectivity.
The collaboration between both airline giants will likely cater to increased demand for international travel, particularly among those looking to explore Italy from Canada and vice versa.
