COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A tragic incident occurred in South Carolina when Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks succumbed to injuries sustained after being struck by a box truck. The incident transpired three days prior to his death, which was confirmed on Wednesday at a hospital, according to a news release from the Department of Public Safety. On Sunday morning at approximately 2 a.m., Ricks had conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 26 near Orangeburg. The driver of the box truck was subsequently charged with driving under suspension.
