On Friday, during a prayer session at a mosque located within a high school, multiple explosions rocked the area in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital. The incident occurred at SMA 27, a state high school situated in a navy compound in the Kelapa Gading neighborhood. According to police reports, at least 54 people were injured as a result of the blasts, most of whom were students.

Witnesses recounted hearing at least two loud explosions around midday, just as the sermon was beginning. This led to chaos, with students and other attendees fleeing in panic as gray smoke filled the vicinity of the mosque. The nature of the injuries varied among the victims, with many suffering from minor to severe wounds caused by glass shards resulting from the blasts.

Emergency services quickly transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. While some were treated and released shortly after, 20 students remained hospitalized, with three of them reported to have serious injuries. Jakarta Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri provided updates on the situation, noting that an anti-bomb squad was dispatched to investigate the scene.

In their initial inquiry, the bomb squad discovered toy rifles and a toy gun located near the mosque, which adds to the complexity of the investigation. Chief Suheri emphasized that the exact cause of the explosions had not yet been determined, stating that preliminary findings indicated the blasts originated near the mosque's loudspeaker.

Authorities have urged the public to refrain from speculating about the nature of the incident, emphasizing the importance of allowing the police to conduct a thorough investigation. Suheri remarked, “Let the authorities work first. We will convey whatever the results are to the public.” The Jakarta police are dedicated to unraveling the details of this concerning incident to ensure the safety of the community.
