"Wanderers Kick Off 2026 Season with New Coach"

The Wanderers return to the pitch as Halifax’s professional men’s soccer club officially launch its 2026 season

The Halifax Wanderers' professional men's soccer club is gearing up for the launch of its 2026 season, marking an exciting moment for both the team and its supporters. This year, the Wanderers are under the leadership of new head coach Vanni Sartini, who brings a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to the club.

In Vancouver, the Wanderers are showcasing a revamped roster that features notable additions, including two-time Golden Glove winner Marco Carducci, who will be the starting goalkeeper. Carducci, a former standout at Cavalry FC, joined the Wanderers under a two-year contract that extends through 2027. His experience and skills are expected to provide a significant boost to the team’s defensive capabilities.

Alongside Carducci, the Wanderers have welcomed several young talents and former Canadian national team defender Marcus Godinho, who signed with the club in January. This mix of experienced players and emerging talent is set to create a dynamic and competitive team atmosphere as they approach the new season.

Head coach Vanni Sartini has made it clear that he values player rotation and inclusivity in his coaching philosophy. He stated on the Halifax Wanderers official website that he plans to rotate players regularly to ensure that everyone on the roster has ample opportunities to contribute during matches. “In every team that I coach, I like to rotate and to give opportunities to different players,” Sartini said, emphasizing his belief that the team as a collective is the primary focus, and he hopes that all 22 players on the current squad will have a chance to be impactful throughout the season.

The excitement for the season kicks off with the first match set for 8 p.m. Atlantic Time on Saturday. Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of live soccer and the chance to support their team in person.

Additionally, the Wanderers’ first home game in the Canadian Premier League (CPL) is scheduled for April 18 at 2 p.m. The team will face off against Pacific FC at Wanderer Grounds, a venue beloved by both players and fans. This match will not only be a test of the team's new strategies and lineup but also a crucial opportunity for the supporters to show their unwavering dedication to the club.

Overall, the Halifax Wanderers are poised for an exhilarating season filled with potential and hope as they aim to build on their previous performances. With strong leadership from Vanni Sartini and a well-rounded roster, they are ready to take on the challenges of the 2026 season and compete fiercely in the CPL.
