A Nova Scotia man has been charged with multiple offences, including sexual assault, following a report alleging that he had assaulted a student at a local school. The incident is said to have occurred at Dr. W. A. MacLeod Consolidated School, which caters to students from pre-primary to Grade 8 in Riverton, N.S. The Nova Scotia RCMP received the complaint on September 10, 2026.
In the aftermath of the initial report, police began an investigation that unveiled additional victims of similar assaults connected to the accused during the 2026-27 school year. The accused, a 53-year-old man from Bible Hill, N.S., has been charged with four counts of assault, two counts of assault by choking, and assault with a weapon.
In addition to the assault charges, the man faces serious allegations including sexual assault, sexual interference, and administering a noxious substance. The local centre of education took swift action by removing the man's access to the school after the original complaint was reported to the authorities.
RCMP Constable Daniel Ronaghan released a statement emphasizing the importance of support for victims, reassuring them that "you and your loved ones will be heard, supported and treated with respect." The statement also encouraged potential additional victims to come forward to discuss their experiences and the available resources and processes for them.
The investigation continues, with police expressing their concern that there may be more victims yet to come forward. The gravity of the charges against the accused highlights the serious nature of the allegations and the authorities' commitment to addressing such incidents promptly and thoroughly.
