"RCMP Uses Spike Belt to Stop Stolen Truck"

RCMP had to deploy a spike belt in order to stop a vehicle from driving away in Porter’s Lake

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) took decisive action on September 23, 2026, deploying a spike belt to halt a stolen vehicle in Porter's Lake. The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. when officers were notified that a Ford F150 had been stolen from a driveway on Robinson Road in Lawrencetown. Thanks to a tracking device installed in the vehicle, authorities quickly determined its location, which was identified as being in the vicinity of Cheviot Hills Street in Porter's Lake.

Upon locating the vehicle, the RCMP attempted to intervene, but the driver refused to comply and continued to flee. Despite the officers utilizing a tire deflation device, the Ford initially managed to evade capture, ultimately coming to a stop on Karen Crescent, a residential street. When the RCMP arrived at the scene, they found the truck abandoned but were able to conduct a search in the surrounding area. This effort led them to find a woman who was suspected of being involved in the incident.

Upon searching the suspect, police discovered that she possessed stolen items taken from the truck. Consequently, a 24-year-old woman from Middle Sackville was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime. She is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth court at a later date to face charges related to the incident.

The swift response by the RCMP highlights the importance of regional policing efforts in addressing vehicle theft and ensuring community safety. The use of tracking technology in vehicles can be instrumental for law enforcement in tracking stolen goods. This incident serves as a reminder for vehicle owners to consider implementing additional security measures, such as tracking devices, which could assist in recovery in case of theft.

As police investigations continue, community awareness surrounding vehicle theft prevention remains crucial. Citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods, contributing to a safer environment for all residents. Overall, the incident not only emphasizes effective law enforcement action but also reinforces the value of community cooperation in combating crime.
