"Impaired Driver Charged After Restaurant Incident"

Police were called about a woman who was believed to be impaired after she ordered food at a restaurant but couldn’t pay

On October 1, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m., police were alerted regarding a woman suspected to be impaired after she attempted to order food at a restaurant but was unable to pay her bill. The incident took place at an establishment located in the 6700 block of Highway 2 in Enfield, Nova Scotia.

According to the police report, the situation escalated when officers were called to investigate an impaired driver associated with a silver SUV that had sustained significant damage. The woman, who reportedly had difficulty completing her order, exited the restaurant and got into the vehicle. Witnesses noted that as the SUV departed the premises, it violated two stop signs on the highway.

Initially, patrol officers were unable to locate the SUV. However, by 9:00 p.m., a new report indicated that the same Nissan Xterra was now parked outside the restaurant where the incident had begun. This development prompted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to reassess the situation.

Upon their arrival, the officers discovered the woman sitting in the driver's seat of the SUV. They proceeded to conduct a roadside breath test, which resulted in a failure, indicating possible alcohol impairment. Following standard procedure, the 43-year-old woman from Middle Porters Lake was charged with impaired driving and transported to a local RCMP detachment for further evaluation.

While at the detachment, she provided two additional breath samples, which registered at 130 mg% and 120 mg%, well above the legal limit. As a consequence of her actions that evening, the woman is expected to appear in court in Dartmouth at a later date, where further legal proceedings will follow.
