SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Police are conducting an investigation following a shooting incident that occurred over the weekend, in which five individuals were injured, one of them critically. The incident took place outside a Safeway supermarket located in the Outer Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco on Saturday night.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire around 9 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered several victims in urgent need of medical assistance. A man with life-threatening injuries was quickly transported to a hospital, alongside four juveniles who suffered non-life-threatening wounds.

Police Captain Kevin Lee provided details to the San Francisco Chronicle, stating that the shooting was instigated by a fight. Despite the severity of the situation, no arrests have been made, and police have not released any information regarding possible suspects at this time.

The chaos of the shooting created panic among bystanders, with reports indicating that people were seen fleeing the area. Witness Tommy Corcoran, 19, recounted his experience, revealing that he found refuge behind a log in Golden Gate Park after hearing the gunshots and observing the commotion as others ran away.

In response to this alarming incident, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie issued a statement expressing his disdain for such violence, emphasizing that it does not reflect the character of the city and is unequivocally intolerable. He affirmed the community's commitment to resisting such acts of aggression.
