On July 18, around 8:30 a.m., Halifax police conducted a vehicle stop near the Macdonald Bridge, which resulted in the arrest of three individuals inside the vehicle. The authorities reported that, upon stopping the vehicle, they discovered a quantity of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a substantial sum of money.
The arrests were made without incident. The driver of the vehicle has been charged with operating a conveyance while prohibited and possession of illegal substances for the purpose of trafficking. One of the passengers is facing multiple charges, including:
- Possession of illegal drugs for the purpose of trafficking
- Theft under $5000 (two counts)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (two counts)
The third individual arrested was also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. All three suspects are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Additionally, during the same weekend as the arrests, Halifax Regional Police responded to 797 calls, underscoring the busy nature of policing in the area at that time.
