"Couple Arrested for Over $10K in Theft Spree"

A man and woman are facing multiple charges after a string of incidents this week that resulted in thousands of dollars in products being stolen

A man and woman face multiple charges following a series of theft incidents this week that resulted in significant losses for local retailers. The Halifax Regional Police responded to a call from a loss prevention officer at Sephora in the Halifax Shopping Centre, who reported that they had detained both suspects for theft.

Upon their arrival, police discovered that the same man and woman were already wanted in connection to two additional theft cases. The previous incidents included a theft on July 20 at another Sephora located at Dartmouth Crossing and another theft that occurred the day before, July 19, at the Sephora in Mic Mac Mall.

According to police reports, over $10,000 worth of products was stolen from these three locations within just two days. The extent of the thefts raised alarm within the local retail community, prompting increased security measures in stores throughout the area.

As a consequence of their actions, Izabela Serban, aged 22, has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000, as well as three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Additionally, her accomplice, Alex Cioriia, 23, faces similar theft charges related to the aforementioned incidents.

The pair is scheduled to appear in court in Halifax at a later date, where they will face the legal repercussions of their alleged crimes. This case underscores the ongoing issue of retail theft and its impact on local businesses, emphasizing the need for vigilant loss prevention strategies in retail establishments.

The swift action taken by law enforcement demonstrates a commitment to addressing theft within the community and ensuring that those who engage in such criminal activities are held accountable. As investigations continue, the Halifax Regional Police encourage other victims of theft to report incidents promptly to aid in the apprehension of suspects and recovery of stolen goods.
