The Halifax Chamber of Commerce has entered a new chapter with the appointment of Joanne Bernard as the new chair of its board. This announcement was made during the organization's annual general meeting held on Wednesday.

Joanne Bernard, who previously served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and is currently the CEO of Easter Seals Nova Scotia, succeeds Ann Divine, the outgoing chair. Bernard’s extensive background in public service and the not-for-profit sector positions her as an ideal leader for the Chamber.

Throughout her career, Bernard has been a staunch advocate for accessibility and inclusive employment. The Halifax Chamber of Commerce highlighted that her appointment aligns with its ongoing commitment to promoting diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion within the business community.
