"New Stars Inducted into Canadian Songwriters Hall"

TORONTO — Andy Kim, Jane Siberry, and rock trio Triumph are among the new class set to join the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame

The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its latest inductees for the 2025 Legends Induction Series, which aims to honor music creators who have significantly contributed to the development of Canadian culture and its influence on the global music scene. This year’s class features notable artists such as Andy Kim, Jane Siberry, and the rock band Triumph.

A total of nine music creators will be celebrated during this year's induction series. Other notable inductees include Ian Thomas, Gino Vannelli, the folk duo Kate & Anna McGarrigle, and Michel Pagliaro. This induction series serves as a special segment of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, which holds its main event biennially.

The festivities will take place in two separate venues: the Meridian Arts Centre in Toronto on October 17 and at Espace St-Denis in Montreal on November 17. Tickets for the Toronto event are currently available for purchase via Ticketmaster, allowing fans and supporters the opportunity to attend and celebrate the legacies of these influential artists.

Andy Kim will be honored for his songwriting contributions, particularly for classics such as “Sugar, Sugar” and “Rock Me Gently.” Meanwhile, the band Triumph, hailing from Mississauga, Ontario, will receive recognition for co-writing powerful tracks like “Magic Power” and “Fight the Good Fight.”

Jane Siberry, known for her poetic lyrics, will be acknowledged for her impactful anthems, including “Calling All Angels.” Gino Vannelli, who has made a mark in soul-pop music, is being recognized for his hit songs “I Just Wanna Stop” and “Black Cars.” Ian Thomas will also be celebrated for his significant contributions to music, with notable songs like “Painted Ladies” and “To Comfort You,” the latter having been famously covered by **Bette Midler**.

The Montreal induction event is set to honor the McGarrigle sisters, who are renowned for their impact on folk music. Other inductees in Montreal include film and TV composer François Cousineau, known for his collaboration with a young Celine Dion, as well as Michel Pagliaro, recognized for his songwriting hit “Lovin’ You Ain’t Easy,” and Indigenous artist Florent Vollant.

As the events approach, additional details will emerge, including the announcement of guest presenters and performers, alongside nominees for the year’s breakthrough songwriter award, which celebrates emerging Canadian talent.
