The Lunenburg District RCMP conducted an investigation in Broad Cove, leading to the seizure of six firearms. The operation was initiated after police received a report of threats involving a firearm at a residential property located on Back Road. The incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on January 6.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers safely apprehended one woman and discovered two firearms that were in plain sight within the residence. Following this initial arrest, the police proceeded to execute a search warrant at the location. This search revealed an additional four firearms, all of which were found to be improperly stored, raising concerns about safety and compliance with lawful storage practices.
The woman arrested during the incident was subsequently released under specific conditions while awaiting a court appearance scheduled for March 4. The RCMP emphasized the importance of responsible firearm storage. They outlined that non-restricted firearms must be stored following two primary safety protocols: by either attaching a locking device that prevents the firearm from being fired or by securing the firearm within a locked cabinet or room.
