"Jalen Suggs Shines with Triple-Double in Magic's Win"

ORLANDO, Fla

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, Jalen Suggs achieved his first career triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, leading the Orlando Magic to a commanding 118-98 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night.

After missing eight games due to a right knee injury, Suggs showcased his comeback in just 29 minutes of play. In addition to his triple-double, he made significant contributions on defense with four blocked shots and three steals. His performance was pivotal in securing a comfortable win for the Magic as they navigated their way through a challenging season.

Desmond Bane was another standout performer for the Magic, contributing 23 points. Paolo Banchero also had a remarkable night, scoring 22 points and proving to be a key player in Orlando's offensive line-up. The Magic had strong support from Anthony Black, who added 18 points and five assists, and Mo Wagner, who came off the bench with 14 points and five rebounds in just 12 minutes of action.

On the other side of the court, the Nets struggled yet again, recording their 15th loss in their last 17 games. They entered the matchup with the lowest scoring average (107.1 points) and the poorest field-goal shooting percentage (44.3%) in the NBA, and Thursday's game was no different. The Nets shot only 41.5% from the field and committed 19 turnovers, undermining their chances of a comeback.

Egor Demin led the Nets with a career-high 26 points, showcasing his shooting skills by going 6 of 10 from beyond the arc. Fellow rookie Nolan Traore matched his career-high with 21 points, adding seven assists to his performance. However, the struggles of Brooklyn's leading scorer, Michael Porter Jr., were evident as he managed to score only nine points on a dismal 2 of 13 shooting night.

The game saw the Magic take control early, with a 21-point lead established in the first half, and they extended that advantage to as many as 26 points by the third quarter. With this victory, Orlando began the first of four consecutive home games against opponents with losing records, aiming to build momentum as the season progresses.

Looking ahead, the Nets will host the Washington Wizards on Saturday, hoping to turn around their misfortunes. Meanwhile, the Magic will also be at home, set to face the Utah Jazz on the same day, seeking to capitalize on their recent success.
