SINGAPORE, Singapore (AP) — The Singapore Air Show of 2026, taking place from February 3 to February 8 at Changi International Airport, has brought together trade delegations and aeronautics enthusiasts from around the globe to exhibit the latest advancements in both civilian and military aviation technology. This year marks the 10th edition of the event, which is recognized as Asia's largest aerospace and defense exhibition.
Notable highlights of this year's air show include the impressive display of cutting-edge aircraft from the Royal Australian Air Force and the United States Air Force, featuring the F-35 Lightning II. The F-35 is a state-of-the-art fifth-generation fighter jet, known for its advanced stealth capabilities and recognized as one of the most sophisticated combat aircraft in operation today. Major aerospace companies such as Airbus, Bombardier, Gulfstream, Boeing, and China's Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) are also present to showcase their latest innovations.
Leck Chet Lam, the managing director of Experia Events, which organizes the air show, emphasized, "We have a very good representation of the latest and the greatest. The unique aspect of the Singapore Air Show is that it covers both the aviation and defense industries." This dual focus sets the event apart and underscores its importance in the global aerospace sector.
During the event, attendees witnessed daily aerial displays that showcased six military teams, alongside demonstrations of COMAC's C919 passenger jet. The C919 is being marketed as a competitive alternative to established models such as the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX. Additionally, the show featured the Airbus A350-1000, further highlighting the innovation present in commercial aviation.
Inside the exhibition hall, there was a diverse array of exhibits including experimental air taxis, advanced flight simulators, drones, and both manned and unmanned helicopters. A static display of approximately 35 aircraft from over 10 countries was set up, giving industry professionals and aviation fans an up-close look at the latest models under Singapore's warm sun.
In total, the Singapore Air Show drew participation from over 1,000 companies representing around 50 nations, showcasing the event's significance as a platform for international collaboration and exploration of new opportunities in the Asia-Pacific market. Lam remarked, "All the exhibitors can use Singapore as a springboard to then tap into the opportunities that are rising in the Asia-Pacific market, which is a key driver that is driving the growth of the global aviation industry."
