TWIN LAKES, Iowa (AP) – A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday involving a bus carrying the Iowa Lakes Community College baseball team, resulting in one fatality and injuries to all 32 individuals on board. The crash took place around 11 a.m. on a highway near Twin Lakes, which is located approximately 110 miles (180 kilometers) northwest of Des Moines.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the bus overturned and landed in a ditch, and fortunately, there were no other vehicles involved in the incident. The circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
In the aftermath of the crash, emergency services responded swiftly. Bruce Musgrave, the director of Calhoun County emergency services, reported that three of the injured passengers were airlifted to trauma hospitals in Des Moines for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the remaining individuals were transported by ambulance to four different hospitals in the surrounding area to receive care for their injuries.
The Iowa Lakes Community College baseball team was traveling on the bus at the time of the accident, according to reports from KTIV.
