A man from Lower Sackville, identified as Dhari Salman Shalaan, is facing numerous charges related to a case of intimate partner violence. The events unfolded on May 20, when law enforcement officers responded to a report of an assault involving a woman and a man known to her, later confirmed to be Shalaan.
The following day, Shalaan himself reported that he had been assaulted by the same woman involved in the earlier incident. However, investigations carried out by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) revealed that the situation was indicative of intimate partner violence, with Shalaan identified as the dominant aggressor in the case.
On Wednesday, the RCMP took the decisive step of arresting Shalaan and executing a search warrant at his residence on Bruce Drive. During this operation, officers recovered a loaded handgun, various drugs, and significant amounts of cash.
