The Lunenburg District RCMP is currently investigating a distressing break-and-enter incident that occurred at a poultry barn, resulting in the tragic death of approximately 10,000 chickens. The incident took place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, when officers responded to reports of unauthorized entry at around 9:50 a.m. at a facility located on Naugler Road in Pine Grove.
Upon arrival, the officers discovered that a significant number of chickens had succumbed due to the barn's ventilation fans being turned off. Investigators suspect that the break-in took place the night before, around 9:45 p.m. on July 24, 2026. A representative from the RCMP stated that this timing was estimated after a thorough review of the electronic monitoring history of the facility's equipment. Thankfully, it was confirmed that no equipment or other valuables were stolen from the premises during this incident.
