120th Dartmouth Natal Day Road Race
With over 1,200 participants already registered, the 120th annual Dartmouth Natal Day Road Race is poised to be one of the highlights of the celebrations. As one of the oldest races in North America, it will be held on the same 2-mile course as in previous years. The race welcomes both competitive athletes and recreational joggers, promoting itself as a family-friendly and affordable event. Although registration is now closed for runners, the public is encouraged to line the route and support the participants or donate to the cause via the race's website.
The road race will commence at Christ Church on Ochterloney Street and will loop around Sullivan’s Pond and Downtown Dartmouth. Runners in the 2-mile race will complete one lap, while those in the 6-mile variant will traverse three laps. The race is scheduled to take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning.
The City of Halifax advises: "Drivers should expect traffic delays, street closures, and parking restrictions along the race route, including Ochterloney Street, Crichton Avenue, Hawthorne Street, Portland Street, and other surrounding roads. Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes."
129th Pepsi Natal Day Parade
Shortly following the road race, the 129th annual Pepsi Natal Day Parade will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This year's parade will pay tribute to former parade marshal Gord Hayward, notably remembered for his contributions before his passing in 2026. The parade will commence on Windmill Road at Jamieson Street and conclude at Silvers Hill Park. Traffic delays are expected, primarily in downtown Dartmouth along the parade route, which includes Windmill Road, Ochterloney Street, and Prince Albert Road.

Natal Day Family Fun Day
Following the parade, the Natal Day Family Fun Day promises free entertainment ideal for younger audiences. Children can also look forward to meeting beloved characters from Paw Patrol and enjoying live performances from various local artists including Stick & Slide, Marcell Sings, and Anna Plaskett & The Astronauts.
Natal Day Fireworks
To conclude the celebrations, the Natal Day Fireworks over Lake Banook will provide a spectacular show from 9:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the holiday evening. To facilitate this, Prince Albert Road will be closed to public traffic from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Other Events
Additinally, Natal Day Monday will host various other activities that are not expected to result in significant road closures. These events include the 39th annual Halifax Busker Festival, a performance by the Mike Cowie Booty Boppin' Brass Band, and a game featuring Halifax Tides FC against Ottawa Rapid FC at Wanderers Grounds. Also scheduled is the 'Town Heroes Concert' at Sullivan’s Pond.
