HALIFAX – The RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) in Nova Scotia have charged a man with attempted murder following an incident involving a shooting that left a 31-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries. The shooting occurred on Saturday morning, August 10, 2026, in South Farmington, located in the Annapolis Valley area.

According to the RCMP, officers received a call at around 7 a.m. indicating that a woman had been shot multiple times by a man known to her. After the attack, the suspect fled the scene in a damaged vehicle, prompting law enforcement to initiate a search for the individual.

Shortly after the shooting, police in Halifax identified the suspect's vehicle in the Beaver Bank area, situated north of Halifax. However, the suspect managed to evade capture by maneuvering around a tire-deflation device set up by the police. He continued his flight south towards Bedford, where he ultimately lost control of the vehicle, crashing it into a wooded area behind a mall.

In response to the escalating situation, the RCMP issued an emergency alert to the public, informing them that the suspect was considered armed and dangerous. This alert prompted heightened concern and vigilance among local residents as police efforts intensified to locate the man.

After a thorough search involving police emergency response teams, the man was successfully apprehended in the woods. However, the firearm allegedly used in the shooting was not recovered at the time of his arrest.

The 36-year-old suspect, a resident of Annapolis County, is now facing multiple serious charges including attempted murder, eight firearm-related offenses, two vehicle-related offenses, flight from police, and failure to comply with three previous release orders. The combination of charges highlights the gravity of the situation and the risks posed by the suspect.
