MONCTON - Authorities in southeastern New Brunswick have launched an investigation following the theft of a bronze maple leaf from a memorial dedicated to three RCMP officers who were tragically killed in the line of duty. According to Inspector Jonathan White, the memorial, located at The Honour Garden, honors constables Fabrice Gevaudan, David Ross, and Douglas Larche. White emphasized that the monument holds "tremendous significance" not only for the police force but also for the community of Moncton. The statue was erected in memory of the three officers who lost their lives during a violent attack in June 2014, when Justin Bourque, armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a shotgun, targeted the officers. This led to a massive manhunt that spanned over 29 hours.
