Emergency responders were dispatched to West Chezzetcook on the afternoon of August 16 for a severe collision that involved a child. According to the information provided by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 207 and Bellefontaine Road.

The crash involved a Toyota Matrix and a Honda motorcycle. Police reports indicate that the 28-year-old driver of the Matrix, who is a resident of West Chezzetcook, was attempting a left turn onto the highway when the collision took place. The motorcycle, operated by a 43-year-old individual from Grand Desert, was traveling south at the time of the incident.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Matrix received on-site treatment from paramedics. The motorcyclist was subsequently transported to a hospital with injuries that were fortunately non-life-threatening. However, the passenger on the motorcycle, a child, sustained serious injuries that were classified as life-threatening. Emergency Health Services (EHS) LifeFlight was deployed to transport the child from the accident scene.

In response to the severity of the incident, a collision reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist with the investigation. The area surrounding the accident site was closed off for several hours to facilitate the investigative efforts and ensure the safety of all personnel involved.

The RCMP has confirmed that their investigation into the crash is ongoing. They are actively seeking assistance from the public, encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or possesses video footage to come forward to aid in their inquiries.
