HALIFAX – The Halifax Regional Police have arrested and charged a man with second-degree murder following a violent altercation earlier this week. The incident occurred on Gottingen Street in Halifax, prompting police to respond to a call about an injured individual on the morning of Wednesday, November 29, 2025.
The victim, identified as Troy Clayton, aged 59, was quickly taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, Clayton succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Subsequently, the authorities classified his death as a homicide the following day, Thursday, November 30, 2025.
Following their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Clayton's death, police arrested a suspect named Aaron James Johnson, aged 40. Johnson faces serious charges, including second-degree murder, in connection with the tragic event that resulted in the loss of Clayton's life.
Johnson is scheduled to make his first court appearance at the Halifax provincial court on the upcoming Monday. This case has drawn attention due to the nature of the crime and the ongoing concerns about safety in urban areas like Halifax.
