TORONTO — The ongoing sexual assault case involving billionaire businessman Frank Stronach has raised significant questions regarding the thoroughness of the police investigation. The lead investigator, Peel Regional Police Sgt. Gabe Di Nardo, faced intense scrutiny during a recent court proceeding concerning the allegations against Stronach.

In a session where defence lawyer Leora Shemesh questioned Di Nardo, concerns emerged about whether the officer merely accepted the complainants' allegations without further investigation. Shemesh asked Di Nardo if he had taken steps to verify the claims made by the plaintiffs. In response, Di Nardo stated that he typically assumes individuals are truthful unless there is reason to believe otherwise, which he claimed was not the case with Stronach’s situation.

Di Nardo acknowledged limitations in the police’s ability to investigate, citing the significant amount of time that had elapsed since the alleged offenses, which reportedly took place between the 1970s and the 1990s.
