MEXICO CITY (AP) — A suspected drug trafficker, regarded as one of Europe’s most wanted fugitives, has been apprehended in Mexico, confirmed authorities on Saturday. The individual has been identified as János Balla, who is also known by the alias Dániel Takács. His capture took place in the southern state of Quintana Roo, as reported by Mexican Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch.

Balla is facing serious drug trafficking accusations in Hungary and is subject to an Interpol Red Notice, indicating his high-profile status on law enforcement radars internationally. García shared this information through a post on X, highlighting the significance of the arrest.

The coordinated operation leading to Balla’s arrest was a result of collaboration between state and federal authorities in Mexico, along with intelligence shared by Hungarian security agencies.
