"Yarmouth Taxi Owner Charged with Historic Sexual Crimes"

HALIFAX — RCMP in Yarmouth, N

HALIFAX – The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, have charged a 63-year-old man with multiple sexual offences that allegedly occurred over two decades ago. The investigation has revealed that there may be more victims who have not yet come forward.

Authorities in Yarmouth, a small town located approximately 220 kilometers southwest of Halifax, initiated their probe into the owner of a taxi service known as “Classic Cabs” in January. The investigation surfaced when police identified two victims, both of whom were minors during the period from 2001 to 2004, when the alleged incidents are believed to have taken place.

The charges against the man include two counts of sexual exploitation, two counts of sexual assault, and an additional count of assault. After being charged, the individual has been released under certain conditions, with a court appearance scheduled for next month.

RCMP further emphasized the importance of the community's support in this ongoing investigation, highlighting the possibility that there are additional victims who may have experienced similar offenses but have yet to report them. Authorities encourage anyone with information to come forward to assist in the case.

This situation highlights the critical issues surrounding sexual exploitation and assaults, particularly involving vulnerable populations such as minors. The investigation's length, spanning more than 20 years, underscores the complexity and difficulty often involved in bringing such cases to light.

As the legal proceedings continue, the RCMP remain vigilant in their efforts to ensure justice is served and to protect potential victims from future harm.
