"Couple Charged After Month-Long Crime Spree"

A man and a woman are now facing charges for a crime spree following an investigation that began on July 25

A man and a woman are facing multiple charges following a crime spree that began with an investigation initiated on July 25, 2026. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Halifax Regional Detachment received reports of fuel theft at a gas station in Fall River, Nova Scotia, where a woman filled a Honda Civic and left without paying. This incident marked the start of a series of offenses attributed to the duo.

Just three days later, on July 28, the Halifax Regional Police (HRP) were notified about a stolen Honda Civic. Authorities discovered that the vehicle had been borrowed on July 20 by the pair but was never returned. Subsequent reports indicated multiple thefts from businesses across Sackville, Fall River, Upper Tantallon, Bedford, Hubbards, and Greenwood over a two-week period. In each case, the woman was identified as a suspect and was often seen leaving in the stolen Civic.

On August 10, an HRP officer attempted a traffic stop on the stolen Civic, but the vehicle fled northbound on Highway 118, evading the police. The following day, officers received reports of a suspicious vehicle at a convenience store in Rawdon Gold Mines, where they found the stolen Honda Civic with both suspects asleep inside. Upon attempting to arrest them, the driver reversed into a police car and fled at high speeds.

On August 14, the RCMP was called to a business in Upper Tantallon regarding a robbery. Investigators learned that the man and woman had filled a shopping cart and left without paying. Officers responding to the scene quickly located the suspects transferring items from the cart into the stolen Civic. When police tried to arrest the woman, she sped away, nearly hitting a store employee in the process.

After nearly a month of evasion, the man and woman were finally located in Falmouth on August 19. Law enforcement agencies collaborated to arrest and charge the pair, culminating in an extensive investigation spanning several thefts and dangerous driving incidents.

The investigation led to the recovery of the stolen Honda Civic, and both suspects now face a comprehensive list of charges. Nicole Adele Spence, a 24-year-old from Dartmouth, is charged with:

Leslie Burton Gray, a 33-year-old from Dartmouth, faces the following charges:

The joint efforts of the Nova Scotia RCMP and Halifax Regional Police in addressing this crime spree highlight the continuous commitment to maintaining public safety and accountability for criminal actions in the region. The sequence of events underscores the challenges law enforcement face during such complex investigations.
