A forest fire in Richmond County remained out of control as of Friday morning. The Municipality of the County of Richmond reported that the fire ignited near Three Rivers Road in Framboise around 5 p.m. on Thursday. Since its inception, the fire has expanded to over 15 hectares in size.
The fire has crossed at least one road and resulted in the destruction of an old trailer that had been vacant for more than two decades. Officials indicated that as of late Thursday, there had been no containment efforts successfully implemented.

In response to the fire, county officials took precautionary measures by spraying down one home and setting up a sprinkler system at another nearby residence. The winds in the area were reported to be blowing to the south, raising concerns that these conditions could negatively impact the fire's behavior and spread.
While there have been no evacuation orders issued as yet, local authorities are advising residents in the vicinity to remain vigilant about the fire's status. Multiple volunteer fire departments initially responded to the incident but have since withdrawn from the area. However, they are expected to return this morning along with ground crews from the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables.
There is also the possibility that air support could be deployed if the situation escalates and requires additional assistance. Local officials continue to monitor the fire and execute safety protocols for the community as they work toward containment.
