Beyoncé's Unreleased Music Stolen in Car Break-In

A choreographer and a dancer traveling with Beyoncé for her concerts in Atlanta left their rental car in a parking garage for an hour while grabbing a bite, then returned to find a broken window and both of their suitcases stolen

A choreographer and a dancer associated with Beyoncé experienced a significant theft while attending the singer's concerts in Atlanta. On July 8, just two days prior to Beyoncé's performances at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the duo parked their rental car, a Jeep Wagoneer, in a nearby parking garage for approximately one hour while they dined at a restaurant. Upon returning, they discovered that the vehicle had been broken into, resulting in a shattered window and the theft of their luggage and essential personal items.

The lost belongings included two suitcases, a pair of sunglasses, Apple headphones, and two Apple laptops, notably containing thumb drives filled with Beyoncé's unreleased music. This theft raised concerns given the sensitive nature of the stolen materials, as the police report indicated that the thumb drives held watermarked music, show footage plans, and both past and future set lists. One of the individuals involved, identified in a recorded 911 call, highlighted the importance of the stolen equipment, stating, “They have my computers and it’s really, really important information in there.” He emphasized working with a high-status individual and necessitating the retrieval of his belongings.

Following the report of the break-in, police initiated an investigation. While they have identified a suspect, as of Tuesday, no arrests had yet been announced. The authorities managed to secure an arrest warrant for the suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, but they noted that the individual remains at large. The 911 caller conveyed urgency in their situation, revealing that one of the stolen laptops had tracking software enabled. The police report noted that officers tried to trace the stolen items by following signals emitted from the laptop and the headphones.

As part of their investigatory efforts, the police cited a red 2025 Hyundai Elantra as a possible suspect vehicle, and the report indicated that an officer examining the dancers’ rented Jeep found “two very light” fingerprints at the scene. Surveillance cameras reportedly captured the incident, although the details of the evidence collected from the tracking signals have not been disclosed.

Atlanta has seen a rise in thefts from vehicles, particularly those with visible valuables left inside. In 2024 alone, the Atlanta police reported a staggering 7,195 vehicle thefts, with 3,185 additional reports since the beginning of the year. Just a week before the theft involving Beyoncé’s team, there were 105 reported thefts from cars, emphasizing the prevalence of this issue in the area. Local law enforcement has urged car owners to take greater precautions, advising them to remove luggage, phones, and other valuables each time they exit their vehicles. Police declared, “Don’t give criminals an easy win.”

As the investigation continues, Beyoncé's team, including her choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue, remains focused on recovering not just their stolen belongings, but also the unreleased music and sensitive materials crucial to their work.
