The game began with a bright moment for the Mooseheads when Caylen Blake found the back of the net at 9:34 in the first period. After receiving a precise pass from behind the Newfoundland net, Blake displayed skillful puck handling, deking goaltender Mikus Vecvanags, and successfully scoring with a backhand shot.
