This victory further enhances Halifax’s standing in the league as they improve their record to 19-16-1-2 for the season.

The game began with an electric start as Shawn Carrier quickly opened the scoring for Halifax, just 48 seconds into the first period. Carrier's goal came after Carlos Händel skillfully maneuvered behind the Olympiques’ net to find him in front, allowing Carrier to tap the puck past Gatineau’s goaltender, Danai Shaiikov. Kulebiakin doubled Halifax’s advantage at 4:28, receiving a pass from Händel positioned in front of the net and firing it over Shaiikov with precision.

As the period progressed, Dylan Allie managed to bring the Olympiques back within one goal. However, the Mooseheads quickly responded to restore their two-goal cushion at 16:07, when Kulebiakin’s shot was deflected by Liam Kilfoil into the Gatineau goal, showcasing the Mooseheads' strong offensive performance.

Despite Halifax's attempts to pull away, Gatineau's Maxim Dubé found the back of the net with his 10th goal of the season, further narrowing the deficit. The momentum shifted significantly when Nicholas Petrut executed a powerplay goal to equalize the score, insisting on extending the game into overtime.
