Prosecutors in Utah have charged 21-year-old Parker Kingston, a standout wide receiver for Brigham Young University (BYU), with first-degree felony rape. The announcement, made on Wednesday, reveals that Kingston is currently being held without bail in St. George, a city located near the Arizona border, as stated by Washington County prosecutors. Kingston’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
The investigation into the allegations began in February 2025, following a report from a 20-year-old woman. During her visit to a St. George hospital, she informed law enforcement officers that Kingston had assaulted her on February 23. Prosecutors have indicated that police collected digital and forensic evidence related to the case and conducted interviews with all parties involved, including witnesses.
As of now, it remains unclear whether Kingston has secured legal representation. He did not respond promptly to requests for comment, and messages left for his family have gone unanswered. Meanwhile, BYU released a statement emphasizing that it takes any allegations seriously and is committed to cooperating with law enforcement in the inquiry. However, due to federal privacy laws and university policies regarding students, BYU stated it could not provide further comments on the situation.
Parker Kingston had a notable performance last season, leading his team with 67 receptions and accumulating 928 yards while scoring five touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed by rushing for 199 yards on 25 carries, achieving one touchdown, and returning 17 punts for 230 yards and another touchdown, showcasing his versatility and talent on the football field.
The allegation against Kingston represents a serious criminal charge and adds a troubling dimension to his athletic career at BYU. As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how it will impact both his future and the university’s standing as they navigate the legal process alongside the ongoing investigation.
