MONCTON, New Brunswick – A tragic head-on collision occurred last night in Moncton, leading to the deaths of two teenagers, as confirmed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. when a car carrying five individuals from Moncton crossed over the centerline and collided with an SUV.
Among the victims were an 18-year-old male and a 16-year-old female, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released to the public. The driver of the car, a 25-year-old man, was taken to the hospital for treatment and subsequently arrested, although police have not disclosed any information regarding potential charges against him.
The collision also left a 16-year-old boy in the car in critical condition, while a 14-year-old boy sustained minor injuries. The five occupants of the SUV, who were all from Arkansas and aged between 24 and 72, were treated at the hospital for minor injuries and have since been released.
